Chigozie "Chichi" Anaele, the creator of KACHI Designs is well under way in claiming the status of a household name and a brand. Like every artist, her works are an expression of who she is. Through the various colors used and the couture style that is presented, she stands amongst the best even though, deep inside, she feels she has room to grow. Her shyness on the exterior is overshadowed by her creativity that she shares with us through her line.

Fikirte Addis, the young emerging Designer from Addis Ababa creates cultural everyday wear in Ethiopia. Fikirte started designing in high school enjoying the freedom of creating and experimenting with different designs and fabrics. This hobby and passion has now slowly developed and turned into opening her own label, Yefikir Design in 2009. Since then, she has been into different fashion events in Addis Ababa, including hub of Africa Fashion Week.

Agama Label began as an idea in the United States in 2006 by brothers Uzo and Emeka Menakaya, who hail Nigeria. Driven by their desire for success in creating a unique brand, and their passion for fashion, Agama Label was established in 2007.

For Autumn Winter 2013, London based label Chichia explores the concept of communication through dress in their dress concept collection. As they offer the 13 key dresses every Chichia girl should have hanging in her closet, details such as multi ruffles, tiered dress bodices and skirts and manipulated style lines are featured throughout the collection in Chichia's signature playful contemporary and easy to wear silhouettes with a refreshingly vibrant colour palette. Quirky details such as stained-glass window inspired patchwork khanga prints are inter-mixed with bead work, sequins, print, solid, and everything in-between.

Tina Lobondi is a london-based Congolese Designer ( See her S/S 13 Collection HERE ). Her A/W 13 collection titled- ¨Biso Na Biso¨(Translation ¨Between Us¨ in Lingala). The eclectic mix of African fabrics and prints showcases Lobondi’s craftsmanship and attention to detail. The designer presents a bold and vibrant palette of on-trend colours such as orange, burgundy and yellow. This in turn resonates quality.

Ghanaian design label N’Kya Designs launched in 2011 by Sheila Boateng, and this year with its Ohemaa collection, the label is dubbing every woman a queen.

The collection was first showcased at London Fashion Week in February 2013 and according to the label, ‘Ohemaa’ means ‘Queen’ in the Ghanaian language ”Twi”. The collection is strongly influenced by the ‘Obaa’ collection and is inspired by the qualities of a woman and is a reflection of the N’kya woman and the qualities she exudes.

The Nairobi Fashion Week 2013 is here. The event kicked off yesterday Friday 23rd August 2013 and will last for 3 days at the Hilton Hotel in Nairobi Kenya.

The Nairobi Fashion Week (NFW) is organized by Dynamic Race Modeling Agency, the regional leader in fashion events.

Farai Simoyi was born in London, England, the child of Zimbabwean parents. She lived in Harare, Zimbabwe, where she got her first taste of textiles and fashion, from her aunt’s lingerie company at age five. Her aunt would give her scraps of fabric, which Farai would sew together by hand to make clothes for both her and her dolls. And, thus, her passion for fashion was born.

Born in the 80′s in a village in Nigeria, Jennifer Okolo grew up to nurture her creativity and love for fashion at a tender age when she would salvage her mums scrap cloths and use them to create stunning designs for her numerous Barbie dolls. Though she was studious at school her flare for handicraft was apparent from childhood. She studied Electrical Engineering and Wireless networks, graduated with a BSc and MSc at Queen Mary university of London with distinction and enrolled shortly after at the prestigious central saint martins school of fashion London. After obtaining a certificate in pattern making she returned to Nigeria to start a fashion line called ‘House of Silk’ setting up outlets in Lagos and Abuja Nigeria. Her designs have been spotlighted severally in top-notch magazines like Vogue and Marie Claire and in 2012 she was invited by buyers from Selfridges Oxford street London (UK’s no 1 luxury store) to showcase her designs at seasonal pop.

The Ghanaian-owned fashion house 54 Kingdoms - to those who understand the African Fashion Industry, isn’t for the faintest of hearts. 54 Kingdoms is an apparel and accessory company that brings the Pan-African creative, history and culture to the doorstep of global fashion – their current Ananse Collection is no exception.
